Last Friday, I went to take a blood and HIV test. The last time that I took the test was a little more than year ago. My mind was clear when I took the test as I know I am clean but just wanted an assurance.
The test required three test tubes of blood! Sigh… what did I get myself into. To make things worse, the doctor could not find my vein. So he suggested the drip method. The doctor put a needle into my hand and I had to squeeze my wrist to let the blood drip into the test tube drop by drop…. and I had three test tubes to fill! The whole procedure took about 10 minutes.
After completing the three tubes, I felt dizzy as there was lack of blood flowing from my arm to the rest of the body for the last 10 minutes. I had to lie down in the clinic for a while before I felt better.
I collected my results today… as predicted, I am healthy except that I am lack of good cholesterol which all I need to do is exercise more. What’s more important, I’m HIV negative.

Errr…there is a “gestation” period of 6 mths. For example, i had sex with a HIV+ person like last night and I go for my blood test in the morning, the result may not show. So to be really safe, you have to do the blood test again six months down the road. Enjoy
