Over the City Day weekend, I stayed at the Empire Hotel Subang. The hotel is located in Empire Shopping Gallery which is very convenient for shopping and food.
The check in process at Empire Hotel was quick but the staff were not friendly. A simple smile would have sweetened the experience. Hotels must remember that the reception is one of the first impression that customer is going to have of the hotel.
The hotel even got my salutation wrong. I was listed as a Miss instead of Mister. The lady attending to me didn’t even say anything even when she saw the incorrect salutation.
Premier Essential
The room that I booked was the Premier Essential with breakfast. The rooms were nice and large. The work desk area is 1/3 the size of the entire room and can easily fit an extra bed. The beds were comfortable except for the the polyester pillow which was not too my liking. Rooms come with wifi but can be weak around the bed area as the routers are located along the corridor.
I switched on the TV and there was a welcome screen on the TV which was nice but my name was listed as a Miss. No correction was made. This little attentive touches would have put Empire Hotel ahead of others.
On the hotel website, it listed as the rooms comes with an iPod dock. However there was none in mine. There was also an information card on a wireless keyboard which works with the TV but I could not find any in my room.
Kitchen Art
Breakfast was served at Kitchen Art, one of the 3 dining outlets at Empire Hotel Subang. The food was acceptable but definitely improvements can be made. Fruits served were semi cold which means they have been placed outside for some time. Choices of salads were limited and the chicken sausages were not to my liking. However I do like to sambal at the Nasi Lemak station which made me go back for a second round!
Conclusion
The rooms were nice but food was only acceptable. Recommend to opt for other food options below the hotel. The hotel should look into the extra touches which would have made the stay been much better.
