The Frangipani Langkawi

I stayed at the Frangipani Langkawi on my recent holiday. One of the reasons I chose this resort as it calls itself an eco-resort and it’s located in Pantai Tengah, near to airport and also the restaurants and shops, making it easy to find food.

The efforts on being environmentaly friendly can be seen throughout the resort - rain water being recycled to water plants, solar hot water panels on every villa, rubbish bins for paper, plastic and other rubbish.

I stayed in the Garden Villa. The rooms are spacious but there were lots of bugs and ants in the room. The resort management must be well aware of this problem as a can on insecticide can be found in the room cupboard.

The beach is beautiful and quite but there is the danger of jelly fish.

The only bad experience I had was when I requested for late check-out. I made the arrangement the night before and the receptionist said it was ok. The next morning, I got a call after breakfast and they wanted to charge RM60 for the late check out. I told the gentleman that I was not pleased and he then discussed with his colleague and reduce it to RM50. I was getting pissed and said it’s not the amount but the principle. I should have been told that there will be a charge when I requested for the late check out and not on the day when I am suppose to check out. He kept quiet for a few moments and said “ok, foc (foc = free of charge)” and put down the phone.

Overall, I like the resort and location. Everything would have been great except they wanted to charge for late check out at the late minute.

Paul, the jellyfish is a bit hard to see. Might be too late when one spots them.

Legolas, nice to see you here again! Been a while. Yes, I love nice hotels too. But can be painful to the pocket! Hahaha…
