Maxis Broadband

I have been using Maxis broadband for a while now and over the last few months, the service is getting from bad to worse! My broadband journey with Maxis has not been smooth since the beginning.

My broadband is registered as data SIM only as I already own a 3G modem. The customer service officer gave me a list of 012 mobile numbers and asked me to choose. I picked one and he proceed to register it. After numerous clicks on the PC, he found that 012 numbers cannot be registered for data only. I have no choice but to choose a 017 number.

A month later, two bills came. One for 012 and the other for 017. I went to the Maxis centre in TTDI where I registered it to complain. The supervisor handled my case and confirmed it was a mistake and it will be resolved. For the next 5 months, the bills kept coming and I kept going back to complain. i got really fed up when their external collection company started calling and harassing me to make payment.

I explained to them about the mistake and they asked me to make police report. I told them I will be glad as I will be reporting against Maxis as they registered a line without my consent, which is stealing. The lady then realize the mistake and told me to go to the Maxis centre to have it resolved and get a case number.

Once again I went to the Maxis centre and got a case number. The collection company called again and I gave them the case number. Weeks later, the collection company called again and harassed me again. I got fed up and called the Maxis collections department. I gave them my case number and explained the problem. The lady mentioned that their TTDI centre did not update the case in the system and apologize for the mistake.

One year later, I got a lawyers letter demanding that I pay for the outstanding or be faced with legal suit. I contacted my lawyer friend and he told me not to panic as it’s clearly their error. I called the Maxis Customer Service and spoke to their broadband department. I explained the whole case all over again and faxed my bills which showed they have waived the outstanding amount. Two days later, a gentleman called and once again apologize for the mistake as their system was not updated with the information. He assured me this will not happen again.

After going through so much headache with Maxis and now I am getting bad internet service. Should I remain with them?

Eugene, i also face the same situation. I signed up a year ago during in PC Fair. And since i’m Maxis member got better offer.
Well, their seems dont check on my location is it suitable to use or not. Straight away register my account.I use it till 1 week later, and i’m too fed up with the speed. I head to TTDI to ask about the condition. It seems that my area ( SHAH ALAM ) 3G is slow connection. Lucky before i head to TTDI, i got make a report to the Maxis. And write down the case number. I cancel my account on the spot. Too slow. Because if without the case number, we have to pay for the refund. If i’m not mistaken RM 200.

And the bills is not cheap either. Lucky no need to pay a single cent. I love to argue for my right. :p
