The best time to visit Holland is during Keukenhof season.
Keukenhof (In Dutch means Kitchen Garden) is Holland’s most famous flower garden. The park is open annually from the last week of March to mid-May. The best time to visit the park is mid-April where millions of Tulips, Daffodils and Hyacinths will be in full bloom.
Getting to Keukenhof is easy. From Schiphol Amsterdam Airport, purchase an €19 combiticket from the Tourist Information Office (also known as the “VVV”) which includes a return bus ticket and entrance fees to the park. The buses leave every 15 minutes from the second island outside the arrivals-level entrance at the airport.
I spent half a day walking in the park. My last visit was more than 10 years ago. The park has outdoor and indoor exhibitions. During my visit, the tulips were on display at the Willem Alexander Pavillion. There were tens of thousands of tulips in bloom! Visitors were everywhere with their cameras busy taking photos of the wonderful display of flowers.
The Keukenhof is a “must-see” for flower lovers. The next time you plan a trip to Europe, make sure it’s during Spring and make a stop in Amsterdam to see one of the greatest flower show on earth!
